THE INDIAN MEDICAL GAZETTE. A MEDICAL SCHOOL FOR BURMAH.

Me. Eden, among other educational reforms which he has

designed, and which have attained the sanction of the Supreme Government, has resolved to establish a medical school at Rangoon. This institution will supply a want which has long been felt by the Burmah administration, namely, the want of indigenous medical subordinates who will serve contentedly in Burmah, and possess a knowledge of, and sympathy with, its inhabitants. Hitherto subordinate medical appointments in Burmah have been filled by Bengal hospital assistants, who, though receiving enhanced pay, invariably look on service there as banishment, and are alien in feelings and habits to the province.
