Summary. A comparison of the standard E reagents provided clear evidence for the allele Ebdamr ( E Z 7 )in Danish Landrace and wild pigs. Keywords: pig, blood groups, complex allele

The pig E blood group system, recently extended with new antigens and alleles, already includes 18 blood factors and 17 complex alleles (Brauner-Nielsen 1991; Hojny et al. 1991). The alleles Ehdgi"' and EbdHm' were, however, determined by antibodies some of which (anti-Er, anti-Et) were not compared and theoretically could be identical. When typing genetic markers in an experimental pig population from Hohenheim University, Germany (crosses of wild boar with sows of Pietrain breed) in 13 of 27 tested pigs, phenotypes proving the existence of phenogroup Ebdgjmr were found. Family studies confirmed that the new allele originated from the wild boar (see Table 1). Table 1. E phenotypes and correspondinggenotypes of 2 families (wild boar, Pietrain sows and offspring)

Comparison of Czechoslovak and Danish E reagents, based also on absorption tests, confirmed the identity of the two Er reagents and thus the finding of the allele Ebddmrin Danish Landrace (Brauner-Nielsen 1991). As the code El6 was used for the two alleles mentioned above, it was decided to use the code E l 6 for EbdgJmr, and El7 for E b d a m r .
