Annual Report 2014 The last time we penned our “Annual” Report, we used a quote from Mark Twain to excuse the fact that we had actually missed a year and thus were providing a two-year report e which was published in the March 2012 issue of the Journal. Apparently not content with our prior degree of procrastination, we have managed to delay our next report even longer, to 2015, which prompts us to employ a different quote, this time from a doctor e the eminent Dr. Seuss e who once said: “How did it get so late so soon? It's night before it's afternoon. December is here before it is June. My goodness how the time has flewn. How did it get so late so soon?” The past two (ok, three) years have been very good to Parkinsonism and Related Disorders. We continue to be blessed by a quartet of Associate Editors e Vincenzo Bonifati, Jonathan Carr, Robert Rodnitzky, Eng-King Tan e who make life incredibly easy for us and a Managing Editor, Susan Calne, without whom the Journal surely would grind to a halt. The support e and freedom e we receive from the responsive and capable team of journal managers and technical support staff at Elsevier also is superb. We are indebted to them all. Parkinsonism and Related Disorders continues to grow in size and stature. We have achieved our long-desired goal of publishing 12 issues per year, along with special supplements. The number of manuscript submissions now exceeds 900 annually, compared with 340 in 2008. We receive submissions from around the globe and have been especially gratified by the increase in submissions from Asia to complement the ongoing steady stream of submissions from Europe and the Americas. With this increase in submissions, and even more importantly, with an increase in the quality of submissions, the journal impact factor has also grown, reaching 4.126 in the most recent Thomson Reuters survey. Parkinsonism and Related Disorders now is ranked 31st out of 194 journals in the ISI Clinical Neurology category. Our sponsoring organization, the International Association of Parkinsonism and Related Disorders (IAPRD), continues to provide tremendous support to the Journal. Attendees of the IAPRD

biannual International Congresses may register for a free subscription to Parkinsonism and Related Disorders. Another unique aspect of this support is the ongoing commitment to provide all attendees to the International Congresses (the next one will be in Milan, December 6e9, 2015) with a copy of the Congress Proceedings, printed as a special issue of Parkinsonism and Related Disorders, in their registration bag at the time of check-in to the Congress. Although we are pleased with our progress, we are not satisfied. The emergence of an ever-growing number of journals devoted to movement disorders makes it essential that we continue to refine and improve Parkinsonism and Related Disorders to keep it interesting, timely and relevant for readers. To this end, we encourage submission of innovative, provocative, ground-breaking manuscripts, both from young investigators brimming with enthusiasm and excitement and from senior researchers blessed with the wisdom of age and experience. We continue to strive to reduce the time from submission to first decision and to publication. Making the journal even more accessible to readers has been accomplished with the availability of the iPad App for Parkinsonism and Related Disorders and with the provision of at least one open access article with each issue. Ideas for further improvements in the Journal are both welcome and encouraged. It is an honor and an exhilarating experience to serve as Editorsin Chief of Parkinsonism and Related Disorders. The support we have received from the movement disorders community e from our publishers, our Associate Editors, our Editorial Board, our reviewers, our authors, and most especially from our readers e over the past seven years has been remarkable and deeply appreciated. We thank you all. Zbigniew K. Wszolek, M.D. Ronald F. Pfeiffer, M.D.
