Systematic Review Snapshot TAKE-HOME MESSAGE Critically ill patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease may not benefit from systemic steroids and have a significant risk of iatrogenic hyperglycemia. METHODS DATA SOURCES MEDLINE, EMBASE, Cumulative Index to Nursing and Allied Health Literature, Cochrane Central Register of Controlled Trials, and Science Citation Index were searched through June 2014. Relevant journals, reference reports, and abstracts were searched.
