or antiarrhythmic drugs. And in various studies, it has shown that these drugs might cause erectile dysfunction [2–7]. It might be useful if the authors could provide further information on this issue. Atrial fibrillation is a common disease in society. Also, its incidence increases with age. It can be seen alone or in the course of other cardiovascular diseases. Antiarrhythmic or ablation therapies are essential treatments in patients with atrial fibrillation [8]. The relationship with erectile dysfunction is still controversial [2,5,8]. Conflict of interest There is no conflict of interests.

Dear Editor, We read the article ‘Atrial fibrillation is associated with increased risk of erectile dysfunction: A nationwide population-based cohort study’ by Lin et al with interest [1]. Their study showed that the incidence of erectile dysfunction was significantly higher in male patients with atrial fibrillation (AF) than those without AF. Erectile dysfunction is a common problem seen in the society. Also its relationship with coronary artery disease has been shown in various studies [2–4]. In this context, in the study of Lin et al; the association of atrial fibrillation with erectile dysfunction increases the risk of bias. There is significant difference in the favor of atrial fibrillation group, in terms of basic characteristic features such as presence of coronary artery disease, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, chronic renal failure, diabetes mellitus, previous stroke and beta-blocker usage. This is a situation that increases likelihood that bias. Significant relation between erectile dysfunction and presence of these diseases has already shown in previous studies [2–6]. At the same time, the authors did not provide sufficient information about the drugs taken by the patient. The presence of comorbid diseases with atrial fibrillation is associated with the use of more than one drug. For instance, many patients with atrial fibrillation use antihypertensive
