Abstract

Background: Epidemiological studies have shown an equal gender distribution of obesity in the United States; however, literature suggests approximately 80% of patients undergoing bariatric surgery are female. The aim of this study is to identify factors that contribute to this gender disparity. Study Design: A retrospective analysis of the Nationwide Inpatient Sample was performed.
