24-year-old woman presented with lower abdominal pain and urinary frequency. She had not previously had sexual intercourse. Transabdominal ultrasound examination showed a multicystic mass in the right ovary (Figure 1), with a large area suggestive of calcification (arrow). The patient’s serum CA 125, alpha-fetoprotein and β-hCG levels were normal. Laparoscopy was performed, and a large cystic teratoma was noted in the right ovary. This was removed laparoscopically with preservation of normal ovarian tissue. Macroscopically, the excised teratoma showed a wellformed mandible with bone, teeth, skin, and hair (Figure  2). The symmetrical and organized growth of the tumour shown in this case is rarely seen in benign teratoma. Only a few cases of mandible-like structures in mature cystic
