Bowling away the winter blues

The North of England Veterinary Association helped to banish ‘Blue Monday’, as the third Monday in January is otherwise known (as it is supposedly the most downbeat day of the year), by holding a bowling night on January 19 in support of BVA’s Young Vet Network. Organised by Dick Thompson (who wore bright colours as recommended by Mental Health Research UK as part of its campaign to turn Blue Monday into Blooming Monday – www.blooming-monday.com), the event attracted local recent graduates and other, more mature, bowlers. The evening was sponsored by Vétoquinol and the company’s representative, Gillian Riddell, presented a bottle of wine to Nick Siddorn of Blythman Vets, Newcastle, the best bowler on the night, who scored an impressive 160 with the help of four successive strikes.
