It has been our privilege to work with an outstanding group of authors to bring you this issue of Veterinary Clinics of North America devoted to Clinical Pathology and Diagnostic Testing. This topic was last covered in 2007 by good friends from another “OSU” (Robin Allison and Jim Meinkoth, Oklahoma State University) and we felt honored to build on their previous work. Our goal with this issue was to focus on the diagnostic application of laboratory testing. We asked authors to provide practical application within each topic—providing our audience with material that they could read this morning and use on a case this afternoon. Even from the titles, you will see a focus on the practical. Inside, you will find articles that help to develop a diagnostic approach to a specific organ system or a clinical conundrum. We targeted these articles around topics of recent interest in the literature—areas where there have been new findings, topical developments, or challenges in interpretation or application. We are grateful for the hard work and expertise put into each article by our contributing authors. In addition, we hope that you enjoy reading these articles as much as we did. Not only are they informative, they are really well done!
