EDITORIAL Special Issue on Metabotropic Glutamate Receptors: Editorial The selection of articles in this special issue was solicited following the highly successful eighth International Meeting on Metabotropic Glutamate (mGlu) Receptors, held in Taormina (Italy) in October 2014, and organised under the chairmanship of Professor Ferdinando Nicoletti. All papers were written and submitted after the conclusion of the meeting and were independently peer-reviewed. As always, we are grateful to those experts who have given their time to review the papers.

The original studies and reviews cover topics within the mGlu receptor field ranging from basic molecular and physiological studies (papers by Farrow; Dalton et al., Hogg et al., Kalinowska & Francesconi; Kahl & Fendt) to studies that are focussed on specific functions and/or diseases where mGlu receptors are implicated or may be therapeutic targets. This covers areas such as Schizophrenia (Woźniak et al., Klar et al., Maj et al.,) Stress Disorders (Peterlik et al.,) Parkinson’s Disease (Klar et al., Morin et al.,) Epilepsy (Qian & Tang), Pain (Koga et al., Palazzo et al.,) and this reflects the wide range of mechanisms and diseases that show involvement of these receptors.
