Fig. 1. Evangelismos Hospital of the University of Athens. This medical center is the largest in Greece and has 1200 beds. It was founded by Queen Olga of Greece in 1884.

Evangelismos Hospital provides all in-, patient medical services except pediatrics and psychiatry. It does, however, provide pediatric services through a active out-patient clinic. It is affiliated with the University of Athens Medical School and medical student rotations for clinical experience and service are provided. Dr. C. Gardikas, professor of

internal medicine at the University and director of internal medicine at Evangelismos Hospital, is in charge of medical service student responsibilities. In addition to patient therapeutic, preventive and rehabilitative medical care of high caliber, considerable cooperative medical research is conducted in the departments of medicine, surgery and hematology, as well as, in other departments. Ample evidence of the caliber of this research in oncochemotherapy, cardiology, endocrinology, dermatology, and hematology was demonstrated at a joint post-graduate medical seminar with the National Medical Association during its post-convention scientific assembly in Eastern Europe during the summer of 1973. This seminar was arranged through the courtesy of Professor C. Tountas, Rector of the University of Athens and Professor D. Gardikas when last minute changes dictated abandonment of the Moscow and Leningrad scientific seminars and tour. This splendid effort coupled with gracious hospitality and sacrifice of a warm weekend in the country, particularly on short notice, were appreciated greatly by N. M. A. seminar participants.

N.B. The paper above and the two following are among those resulting from the tour of the 11th Annual Post-Convention Scientific Assembly, August 18-September 2, 1973. Dr. Leslie L. Alexander was the leader of the group.
