FOREWORD Peripheral vascular disease (PVD) refers to disease(s) that affects the extra cardiac circulatory systems and the arterial system. Advances in diagnosis, devices and positive experiences of interventional cardiologists have reached a stage where interventional cardiologists are now evaluating and performing endovascular treatments for arterial diseases (including those in the upper and lower extremities, carotid, renal and mesentery), venous disorders and in the aorta. Dr. Tanvir Bajwa at the Milwaukee Heart Center has vast experience in interventional therapy involving the coronary arteries, valvular diseases and PVD. He is a leader in this field and always presents an authoritive view point that is balanced, and an appropriate point of view. In this issue, Dr. Bajwa and his colleagues have prepared a superior manuscript that is extensive; it has 141 references, 16 Figures and 5 Tables. The Editorial Board and I are grateful to them for their excellent contribution.
