FOREIGN BODY

T he patient, a 30-year-old man, was seenbecauseof an erythematous, painful, boggy swelling in the maxillary right vestibule adjacentto a fixed partial denture. The area was incised and drained; however, the patient’s symptomspersisted. A flap was raised and a firm, rubbery masswas removed. It was assumedthat when rubber-baseimpressionswere made some of the material dissected through soft-tissue planes and acted as a foreign body. The radiopaque mass was quite evident on the Panorex radiograph. Joseph T. Fay, D.D.S. Fredric Berman, D.D.S.
