Indication and Procedure of the Operative Treatment of Benign Bone Cysts in Children and Adolescents A. In 2-3 reviews 30 patients with non ossifying fibroma and 31 patients with a solitary bone cyst were examined to evaluate the prognosis of these diseases. It has been shown that the eure rate of non ossifying fibromas of 95 % and solitary bone cysts of 70 0/& is extraordinarily good and does not depend on the treatment that has been realized. For that reason, the indication for operative treatment must be differentiated: Non ossifying fibromas should be left to spontaneous healing. Solitary bone cysts in the upper limb should be treated by punction only when they show great activity, otherwise they can be left to spontaneous healing, too. In the lower limb active cysts with or without fracture should be operated, while inactive cysts should to be cured by puncture alone.

Resume A deux ou trois reprises, 30 patients atteints d'un fibrome non ossifiant, et 31 patients avec un kyste osseux juvenile ont ete revus et le pronostic de ces affections precise. Il a ete etabli que le pourcentage de guerison des fibromes non ossifiants etait de 95 %; dans les kystes osseux solitaires, il etait de 70 % et ne dependait pas du traitement qui avait ete realise. Les indications pour le traitement chirurgical doivent etre, de ce fait, etablies de la fac;on suivante: - Les fibromes non ossifiants peuvent etre laisses a une cicatrisation spontanee; - Les kystes solitaires du membre superieur doivent etre traites par ponction, seulement lorsqu'ils montrent une grande activite, autrement, ils peuvent etre laisses a leur cicatrisation spontanee.

Kyste solitaire metaphysaire de 1'os - Cicatrisation spontanee - Indication pour le traitement operatoire
Zusammenfassung In 2-3 Nachuntersuchungen wurden 30 Patienten mit einem nicht-ossifizierenden Fibrom und 31 Patienten mit einer juvenilen Knochenzyste nachuntersucht, um die Prognose dieser Erkrankungen zu eruieren. Es zeigt sich, daß die Ausheilungsprognose derartiger Zysten mit 95 % bei den nicht-ossifizierenden Fibromen und 70 % bei den juvenilen Knochenzysten außerordentlich gut und unabhängig von der jeweils durchgeführten Therapie ist. Die Indikation zur operativen Therapie muß deshalb differenziert werden: Nicht-ossifizierende Fibrome sollte man der Spontanheilung überlassen, ohne aktiv vorzugehen. Juvenile Knochenzysten im Bereich der oberen Extremitäten sollten nur bei massiver Aktivität punktiert werden. Im Bereich der unteren Extremitäten sollten aktive Zysten mit und ohne Fraktur operativ angegangen werden, inaktive Zysten jedoch lediglich punktiert werden.
