Anterior Cerebral-Anterior CommunicatingRecurrent Artery Complex

T o THE EDITOR: Since the appearance of our article (Perlmutter D, Rhoton A L Jr: Microsurgical anatomy of the anterior cerebral-anterior communicating-recurrent artery complex. J Neurosurg 45:259-272, September, 1976), we have received letters from Drs. Krayenbfihl and Yasargil regarding this work. Their comments deserve to be called to the attention of the Journal's readers. Dr. Krayenbfihl noted that the literature on this subject appeared in the 1968 book by himself and Dr. Yasargil? H e also noted that as early as 1959 he recommended the right frontal lateral osteoplastic flap for anterior communicating aneurysms starting from the carotid bifurcation and going along the anterior communicating artery, taking care to preserve the diencephalic perforating arteries and Heubner's artery? Dr. Ya~argil noted that he had described the anatomical variations of the anterior communicating artery previously) Both Drs. Krayenbfihl and Yasargil called attention to Lazorthes' important work in this area?,' We are most appreciative of the comments of both Dr. Krayenbiihl and Dr. Ya~argil.

Injection of the Gasserian Ganglion

T o THE EDITOR: An article published in the Journal ( T a t o r C H , Rowed DW: Fluoroscopy of foramen ovale as an aid to thermocoagulation of the Gasserian ganglion. Technical note. J Neurosurg 44:254-257, February, 1976) described a technique for injection identical to that published by myself and Hill in 19727 It was also described in a book by myself and Voris in 1975.1 WALTER W.
