Along the last years, interventional radiology eIR) has turned into an essential tool for treatment of cancerous patients. Guided biopsies under X-rays, ultrasounds, endoscopy or even MRl became a standard way to safely and accurately obtain deep tissues specimen. As an adjuvant therapy IR has multiple routine applications: preoperative tumor devascu-

larization, arterial redistribution before intraarterial chemotherapy, portal embolization for inducing preoperative segmental hepatic hypertrophy ... Most of its daily applications are palliative procedures: control of pain, bleeding or abnormal secretion; drainage or stenting of bile ducts, vessels, urmary and digestive tracts ... More exciting are the curative possibilities allowed by the locoregional approach of solid tumors combined with the more recent improvements in technology and fundamental research: intra-arterial chimio- or immunochimio-embolization local genic therapy, physical tumor ablation destruction (ethanol-, la~r-, cryo-, radiofrequency-ablation).
