the 17th instant, tliat two of my patients had haemorrhage from the intestines during the reaction stage, and in one of them hsematuria was associated with it. Of these two patients one was a milkman of Maehkhallia village, about 4 miles from the dispensary, and the other an upcountrvman travelling to an Assam tea garden. Both the patients complained of a severe burning pain in the abdomen during collapse, as did also a large number attacked by the disease. The milkman was the fifth sufferer from the disease in his house, two of his relatives having died of it. just a few days prior to his attack. He was placed under my care on the lotli December 1877, the 2nd day of the attack. Haemorrhage occurred at 8 P.M. of 16th December, 32 hours after the commencement, of this attack. Tiie result of the case was happily successful, though the recovery was protracted by a long and troublesome hiccup and acute dysentery. The inmates of the house attacked by the disease were as follows, viz.. the milkman himself, his twin brothers, a niece and a nephew. The nephew and one of the twin brothers died. The survival of one of the twin brothers gives an additional confirmation of the fact that twins do not die at one time and of the same disease a8 is generally believed by natives.
