Dear Editor, We have read with great interest the article published in Molecular Immunology entitled “Susceptibility to SLE in South Indian Tamils may be influenced by genetic selection pressure on TLR2 and TLR9 genes” (Devaraju et al., 2015). Interestingly, the study revealed that TLR2 (R753Q) polymorphism was not associated with SLE, while TLR9 (−1237C/T) T allele conferred a significant risk to develop SLE in South Indian Tamils.
