Letter from the Editor
One of the highlights of 2014 was that the BCPT Nordic Prize was awarded to Professor Olavi Pelkonen, Oulu, Finland. The prize ceremony is scheduled for spring 2015 and will probably be held in Helsinki, Finland. In June 2014, we were notified that the impact factor had increased to 2.294. In 2013, the journal sponsored two BCPT Focused Nordic conferences titled ‘Novel Drugs and Drug Targets to Treat Inflammation’ and ‘Frontiers in Cell Toxicity Testing’, respectively, and this resulted in nearly 40 MiniReviews published in the January and July 2014 issues of the journal. BCPT was proudly selected by the organizers to publish the abstracts of the 18th IUPHAR World Congress on Basic and Clinical Pharmacology held in Cape Town, South Africa, July 2014. In September 2014, we had the great pleasure of publishing the abstracts from the XXXV Congress of the Spanish Society of Pharmacology, and in October 2014 we published the abstracts from the XXVII Congress of the Spanish Society for Clinical Pharmacology. The year 2014 was the first full year for the newly established Nordic Association for the Publication of BCPT. As a consequence of this, Kristın Olafsd ottir, Reykjavik, Iceland and Ullamari Pesonen, Turku, Finland, as well as Georg Sager, Tromsø, Norway and Richard Malmstr€om, Stockholm, Sweden, have joined the Board of Directors of BCPT. I wish them wholeheartedly welcome. During 2014, as always, I have had an excellent collaboration with the two Associate Editors, Jens Lykkesfeldt and Ulf Simonsen, as well as with Copy Editor Henrik Horneberg. I have also had an excellent collaboration with MiniReview Editors Eeva Moilanen, Jesper Hallas and Lisbeth Ehlert Knudsen, as well as with the members of the Board of Directors and all of the Editorial Advisers. Some of the Editorial Advisers, i.e. James A. Bond, Michael J. Mulvany, Arnold Herman, Heyo Kroemer and Jens Zimmer Rasmussen, ended their term of service by the end of 2014, and I thank them very much for their contribution to the journal. From 2015, I would like to welcome Markus Forsberg, Kuopio, Finland, as new Editorial Adviser. Finally, I direct my thanks to all the scientists who continue in increasing numbers to submit their manuscripts to BCPT and to all of the external reviewers who evaluate them very critically.
