T

he NASN Endowment Fundraising Committee sponsored the seventh annual Endowment Fund Purses for Nurses Silent Auction at the annual NASN conference held June 24-27, 2015, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The Endowment Fundraising Committee is charged with promoting and perpetuating the NASN Endowment Fund that is established to: •• support research about school nursing and the health of school-age children, •• fund grants that improve school nursing practice and school-affiliated delivery of health care, •• provide scholarships for school nurses seeking graduate degrees and/or certification in advanced nursing practice.

The Endowment Fundraising Committee set a fundraising goal of $10,000 during the NASN2015 conference with two fun and engaging events. The Endowment Fundraising Committee’s Change Your “Purse”pective marketing campaign highlighted the Purses for Nurses (PFN) Endowment fundraiser in both of the NASN publications this spring. Full-page advertisements depicted bidders from the previous years’ PFN endowment fundraising events bidding on a multitude of beautiful donated purses. The 2015 Purses for Nurses Silent Auction was an exciting and interactive fundraising experience for all who participated. Purse donations were received from individuals, NASN Directors, local businesses, and state school nurse associations. Purse items could be donated

in honor of or in memory of a school nurse colleague. All shapes, themes, sizes, colors, and styles were on display for bid for both the male and female school nurse bidder. Conference participants were also provided the opportunity to donate directly to the Endowment Fund at the conclusion of two general conference sessions on June 25, 2015. Did we reach our goal of raising $10,000 for the Endowment Fund???? Check in on the NASN SNN to find out!
