Prolamin is one of the major storage proteins of rice seed. Two prolamin cDNA clones, pX24 and pS23, were isolated from a XZAP cDNA library constructed from immature rice (Oryza sativa L. cv Tainung 67) endosperm poly(A)+ RNA. The coding regions were 92% and 84% homologous to each other at the nucleotide and amino acid levels, respectively. The arrow between amino acid 14 and 15 indicated the predicted signal

to another rice prolamin cDNA clone (pProl4) (1, 2) but have only about 65% identity to XRM7 clone (3).
