Platelet angiotensin II receptors in pregnancy M. PAWLAK and G. MACDONALD Department of Nephrology, School of Medicine, Prince Henry Hospital, Little Bay, NS W 2036, Australia (Received 24 July 1992)

In a recent paper by Baker et al. (Clin. Sci. 1992; 82, 377-81) [l], reference was made to our study of platelet angiotensin I1 receptors in normal and hypertensive pregnancy (reference 13 in [l]). We wish to point out that the authors have incorrectly suggested that we conducted a cross-sectional rather

than a longitudinal study. In fact, we studied a group of normal pregnant women in early gestation and then followed up the same group in the third trimester. We observed subsequent development of pregnancy-induced hypertension in two subjects who had shown significantly higher angiotensin I1 binding than the rest of the third-trimester group. The findings of our study were published in full in the August 1992 issue of the Journal of Hypertension
