Foreword olymorphic ventricular tachycardia (PMVT) is an important rhythm disorder that needs to be recognized by all personnel involved in the care of patients with heart disease and in those who provide care. The issue is relatively complex. The authors have divided it into 2 parts. Part 1 relates to PMVT in those with structural heart disease and acquired causes, and is covered in the November 2013 issue of Current Problems in Cardiology. It has 123 references and 17 figures. Very important issues are discussed. For example, it includes the difference between pleomorphic and polymorphic PMVT and the increasing incidence of drug-drug or drug-electrolyte PMVT particularly with use of polypharmacy in intensive care units. Part 2 relates to the channelopathies in PMVT and appears in the December 2013 issue of Current Problems in Cardiology. It explores the clinical and cellular phenomena of primary electrical disorders of the heart. It has 153 references and 9 figures. These volumes are superb. They are comprehensive, are up to date, and contain essential and very important material for all involved in the care of patient. The Editorial Board and I are greatly indebted to Dr Akhtar and his colleagues for this excellent contribution.
