Publisher's Announcement After 5 y e a r s of d e d i c a t e d service, Dr. Michael Weintraub is retiring as Editorin-Chief of Current Therapeutic Research. Upon a c c e p t a n c e of this position, Dr. Weintraub indicated that h e w a n t e d to work with authors, especially from countries o t h e r t h a n t h e United States, to help t h e m publish good research. He h a s certainly a c c o m p l i s h e d this goal. His in-depth reviews p r o v i d e t h e groundwork n e c e s s a r y to onganize good r e s e a r c h p a p e r s and his r e q u i r e m e n t that institutional review b o a r d approval be published in e a c h article h a s raised t h e s t a n d a r d s for all m a n u s c r i p t s . We will m i s s Dr. Weintraub's dedication to t h e journal and his wonderful s e n s e of h u m o r in r e s p o n d i n g to o u r r e q u e s t s that h e m e e t i m p o s s i b l e deadlines. We wish him all t h e best in his retirement as h e trains for t h e s e n i o r triathlons h e enjoys so much! DE Judd Walson will a s s u m e the position of Editor-in-Chief effective J a n u a r y 1, 2005. DE Walson has been a m e m b e r of t h e Editorial Board and has reviewed manuscripts for Current Therapeutic Research for several years. DE Walson received his Master of Public Health and Doctor of Medicine degrees from Tufts University with training in pediatrics and internal medicine. He is currently specializing in infectious diseases at t h e University of Washington International AIDS Research and Training Program. He has been active in research in underdeveloped countries and s h a r e s DE Weintraub's vision of helping researchers in t h e s e countries find publication venues. We look forward to continuing our collaboration. Current Therapeutic Research w a s t h e first journal 1 w o r k e d on w h e n 1 launched m y 19-year c a r e e r in t h e journal group of Excerpta Medica. It is therefore with mixed feelings t h a t 1 a n n o u n c e that 1 will b e retiring as p u b l i s h e r of Current Therapeutic Research effective with this issue. My pride in t h e longevity of t h e journal is t e m p e r e d b y t h e s a d n e s s of s a y i n g g o o d b y e to t h e o u t s t a n d i n g group of individuals who work so diligently to p r o d u c e t h e journal. 1 h a v e b e e n b l e s s e d to be s u p p o r t e d b y an incredibly professional staff that works long hours, m o s t often u n d e r extraordinarily tight deadlines. Words can n e v e r adequately e x p r e s s m y gratitude for t h e i r s u p p o r t and friendship. The journal could n e v e r h a v e reached its goals without them. T h a n k s also to t h e m e m b e r s of t h e Editorial Board for t h e i r willingness to find p e e r r e v i e w e r s to e n s u r e scientific quality and for p r o m o t i n g t h e journal to their colleagues. 1 look forward to t h e continued evolution of Current Therapeutic Research. Vicki Donoso, MS, MBA, who has worked in t h e journal group for almost 10 years, will b e s t e p p i n g in as publisher. Vicki b r i n g s with h e r a b a c k g r o u n d in scientific r e s e a r c h and b u s i n e s s and, of m o s t u s e to her, a s e n s e of h u m o r - - a l l of which are n e e d e d in t h e m a n a g e m e n t of a fast-paced journal environment. The journal will continue to grow u n d e r Vicki's leadership, and 1 wish h e r and t h e journal's staff all t h e best. With any luck, 1 will receive a c o m p l i m e n t a r y subscription so that I m a y keep up with d e v e l o p m e n t s in t h e world of m e d i c i n e without having to leave m y n e w h o m e in t h e s h a d o w s of t h e Colorado mountains.
