programme of publications in more than 20 key national and international journals, an ambitious programme of linguistic translation, and a high level of activity for the traditional core functions of a Cochrane field. The vision to set up this Field was Professor Pearson’s, yet the first conceptualization was highly collaborative, with groups from England, Scotland, Spain, the USA, Australia, Singapore, Taiwan, as well as members of the Australasian Cochrane Centre and the publisher, Wiley. This collaborative ethos has set up an entity that has the pragmatic outcomes focus nursing is often characterized by, while simultaneously promoting engagement with Cochrane entities with nurses from around the world. The CNCF is one expression of Professor Pearson’s list of achievements; like his others, the CNCF will continue to be a collaborative group seeking to engage with those willing to invest in the Cochrane mission and vision.
