The 29th Conference on Environmental Geochemistry and Health took place in Toulouse (France) from 8 to 12 July 2013. It gathered 160 delegates from 35 countries around regular topics (Biogeochemistry and Health, Biogeochemistry and Ecotoxicology, Spatial and Temporal Records of Pollution including Catchment Studies), as well as special Sessions (Frontiers in Mercury Biogeochemistry, Bioaccessibility of Pollutants in Soils and Vegetables, Arsenic: Current Issues

of Speciation, Environmental Behaviour and Human Health Impacts). This special issue represents a selected collection of studies presented during the conference. It covers a wide range of disciplines and approaches applied to the environmental and health impacts of contaminants. On behalf of the Society for Environmental Geochemistry and Health, we would like to thank all the authors and reviewers who contributed to this special volume issue.
