Seminars in Pediatric Surgery increasing to six issues per year

Seminars in Pediatric Surgery was first published in 1992 to serve as a bridge between the current journals and the next edition of major textbooks in the field. The purpose of the new journal was to select a topic of significant interest and importance to pediatric surgeons and cover it in great depth often beyond the content of certain texts. An individual who was an expert on the subject was chosen to serve as the Guest Editor of the issue and he or she subsequently invited 8–10 contributors to provide articles for each issue that covered various aspects of the main topic. Dr. Steven Gans and I were the founding co-editors of the Journal. Two years later, Dr. Gans unfortunately passed away, and I have had the privilege of serving as the editor of Seminars since that time. Over the years, the quarterly journal gradually became a valuable resource for reviewing topics in the specialty. Seminars was clearly recognized as an important addition to the journals available in the field. At present, the Seminars has the highest impact factor of all pediatric surgical journals worldwide. Based on its growing popularity and suggestions from the readership,

Seminars in Pediatric Surgery plans to increase the number of issues to six per year starting in February 2014. The six topics selected for 2014 are listed below: February 2014—Bariatric surgery and childhood obesity April 2014—Endocrine surgery in children June 2014—Regenerative medicine in pediatric surgery August 2014—Vascular malformations in infants and children October 2014—Neonatal surgery December 2014—Surgery of the peritoneum We hope that you find the additional issues of value and enjoy the content of Seminars in Pediatric Surgery planned for the upcoming year.
