Severe infantile haemangioma: Complications and treatment A baby aged 3 weeks developed a cutaneous lesion overlying the anterior fontanelle. At age 2 months, the lesion measured 8 × 7 cm. Multiple admissions to hospital were required because of ulceration, superficial infection and repeated haemorrhage; treatment with oral prednisolone was ineffective (Fig. 1). Surgery or local injection was considered hazardous because of proximity to major vessels. What is the diagnosis and what treatment is indicated? (Answer on page 330).
