Special issue ‘‘Plant Science and Biotechnology in China’’: part two Gu¨nther Hahne • Jang R. Liu • Neal Stewart

To pay tribute to the impressive growth of Chinese research output in the field of plant science and biotechnology, Plant Cell Reports devotes a special issue to this subject, thus highlighting the impressive progress made in this field in Chinese research laboratories. This project has generated great interest and yielded a large number of contributions, more than we could accommodate in a single monthly issue. A first part, focusing on plant biotechnology
research, has been published in the April 2014 issue. The second part, subject of the present issue, completes the special issue with fine contributions relating to plant science in the wider sense. The entire special issue is a unique opportunity to apprehend in a nutshell the wide spectrum and the recent dynamic development of Chinese plant science and development.
