Career Advancement Opportunities and the ACVP/STP Coalition

The primary mission of the ACVP/STP Coalition for Veterinary Pathology Fellows remains to fund new training positions. However, in an effort to develop additional means to enhance training, the coalition has implemented a service to facilitate career advancement opportunities. This service will allow rapid communication of such opportunities between veterinary pathologists in academia, industry, and government and will be useful for trainees as well as established pathologists. The service is easy to use—additional details, including how to post opportunities on the coalition website using standardized forms, can be found at http://www.vetpathcoalition.org/opportunities. These opportunities include (1) internships for postDVM pathology residents, (2) postdoctoral fellowships, (3) sabbaticals, (4) supplemental funding for post-DVM PhD

pathology graduate research, (5) recruiting post-DVM PhD pathology graduate students for extramurally funded training positions, and (6) assisting funded foreign veterinarians to apply for North American training. In many cases, this service will be offered free of charge on a first-time basis, allowing users to compare results with other methods they may have used for similar purposes or to initiate new career advancement opportunities.
