Strengthening collaboration on veterinary education A MEMORANDUM of understanding between the University of Edinburgh and the government of Hong Kong is set to allow veterinary students to participate in an exchange programme with the aim of gaining knowledge and experience and extending their exposure to a variety of aspects of veterinary medicine. The memorandum of understanding seeks to strengthen partnership and strategic collaboration between the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) Government’s Agriculture, Fisheries and Conservation Department (AFCD) and the University of Edinburgh. It was signed on April 21 at the end of a two-day international workshop organised jointly by the University of Edinburgh and the AFCD. The workshop, ‘Applied veterinary research: advancing human and animal health and welfare’, was attended by 200 veterinary and medical representatives from international animal health organisations, veterinary authorities, universities and animal welfare organisations, and from HKSAR government departments and bureaux.
