Reports Subfoveal Choroidal Thickness in Idiopathic Choroidal Neovascularization Idiopathic choroidal neovascularization (CNV) is an uncommon disorder primarily affecting individuals 26.5 mm or myopia >e6 diopter. Full-thickness choroidal images were obtained using spectral domain OCT (Spectralis, Heidelberg Engineering Co., Heidelberg, Germany) with EDI techniques as described by Spaide et al.5 Choroidal thickness was measured manually with calipers as the distance from the outer border of the retinal pigment epithelium to the inner surface of the sclera (Fig 1, available at www. aaojournal.org). Fundus photography or fluorescein angiography, best-corrected visual acuity (BCVA) assessment, and OCT examination were performed before anti-VEGF therapy and at monthly intervals up to 3 months after treatment and then at 3-month intervals. Interpretations and measurements of OCT were performed by 2 independent investigators masked to patient information. The average of the 2 measurements was used for analyses. Resolution of CNV was defined as absence of intra-/subretinal fluid on OCT images at 1 month after treatment. Recurrence of CNV was defined as the recurrence of intra-/subretinal fluid and fluorescein leakage. Retreatment was performed on as-needed basis if CNV recurred or had not been resolved after the last injection. Forty-two eyes of 42 patients treated with intravitreal bevacizumab (IVB) for idiopathic CNV were included in our study.

Baseline and ocular characteristics are presented in Table 1 (available at www.aaojournal.org). The mean number of IVB injection during follow-up period was 2.52.1. The time to recurrence ranged from 2 to 23 months (mean, 6.86.7). There was good interobserver agreement in baseline SCT measurements, with mean absolute difference of 7.98.2 mm, intraclass correlation of 0.991 (95% CI, 0.983e0.996), and coefficient of variation of 2.22.6%. At baseline, the mean SCT (305.183.8 mm) was significantly greater in eyes with idiopathic CNV than that in contralateral eyes (271.289.8 mm; P ¼ 0.013 by paired t test). One month after IVB injection, the mean SCT decreased to 281.291.2 mm (P
