Preface to disseminate the knowledge and achievements of radon and thoron, especially in Eastern Europe. A free intercomparison exercise for indoor active detectors measurements was organised at proper field sites in Nisˇka Banja (Spa of Nisˇ). We believe that RAD 2014 and SEERAS created a platform for researchers to establish a direct contact for potential future collaborations in the fields of radiation research. We wish to acknowledge the work of the reviewers of this Special Issues and Conference Proceedings, as well as the work of the Invited Speakers and the Chairpersons. In the end, we would like to thank to all the participants of RAD 2014 and SEERAS, where there were about 500 received abstracts and about 300 participants from almost 50 countries. Over 80 papers were submitted for publication in the Special Issue of Radiation Protection Dosimetry, and a selection of these papers constitutes this special issue. Goran Ristic RAD 2014 Chairman, and SEERAS Co-Chair

This special issue of Radiation Protection Dosimetry contains selected papers presented at the Second International Conference on Radiation and Dosimetry in Various Fields of Research and the Second East European Radon Symposium. The Second International Conference on Radiation and Dosimetry in Various Fields of Research (RAD 2014) took place at the Faculty of Electronic Engineering, University of Nisˇ, Nisˇ, Serbia, in the period from 27 to 30 May 2014. It was an interdisciplinary meeting which gathered people from various fields of natural science, engineering, medicine and environmental protection, as well as social sciences and humanities. RAD 2014 provided the forum for researchers and professionals involved with interdisciplinary scientific fields, especially radiation and radiation dosimetry, allowing them to exchange and discuss their findings and experiences. The fields covered by the Conference were physics, electronics, medicine, biology, chemistry, environmental protection, and other areas related to ionising and non-ionising radiation and their detection. The Second East European Radon Symposium (SEERAS) was organised as a satellite event of RAD 2014 Conference. SEERAS allowed the participants
