bNational Institute of Genetics Mishima 411, Japan Minoxidil (MNX), a potent antihypertensive drug, has been used for treating patients with severe refractory hypertension. During treatment, hypertrichosis occurred in the Then MNX developed as a hair-growing drug. Although the mechanism of hair growth by MNX is not fully known, it includes the effect of increasing blood flow3 and the effect of stimulating hair follicle cells.4.5 Moreover, it has been suggested that the active metabolite of MNX for hair growth is MNX sulfate. In this study, we examine the hair growing effect of MNX and MNX sulfate and compare them using C3H mice and alopecia periodica mice.
