Time to prepare and submit your abstract for UEG Week Vienna 2014

UEG Week is one of the largest and most prestigious meetings in the world, where cutting-edge gastroenterology and hepatology is discussed. The most important feature of our meeting is the science and we continue to try to attract the best science to our meeting. We are therefore proud that the standard and volume of new research presented at our meeting has continuously and substantially increased over the past years. This has been achieved by devoting a large number of highly interactive sessions to original research, and by putting a lot of effort into having an attractive poster area at our meetings, where researchers and clinicians meet to discuss science. At UEG Week Vienna 2014 we will continue our work to further improve the poster presentations by introducing more possibilities to view and show posters electronically, and to use these new display formats for improved poster rounds and more small group in-depth scientific discussions. We will also continue to increase and further improve the interactive features in our free paper sessions. Another important feature that has attracted an increasing number of high class abstracts to our meeting is our generous awards and prize scheme with a special focus on the young scientists, this will continue in Vienna 2014. The first authors of the top five submitted abstracts each receive E10,000, and we also have many other prizes including oral free paper prizes, top poster prizes, national scholar awards and a large number of travel grants for young basic and clinical researchers. Moreover, in order to attract more young scientists, there will be a ‘Young GI track’ in Vienna, where sessions of special interest for fellows will be highlighted in the programme, and we will also launch a mentoring programme for young gastroenterologists and scientists. Many young gastroenterologists express that presenting an abstract at UEG Week has been an important stepping-stone in their careers, and also a great possibility to interact with some of the best

scientists and clinicians in the world. The poster area is certainly a very good place to meet new and old friends, set up collaborations, get new ideas for your research, and to have fun! At UEG Week in Vienna, we will also include an increasing number of basic/translational science sessions, where the best scientists in the world will present basic and translational science likely to influence clinical practice within the foreseeable future, which will also attract even more high-class cuttingedge science to our meeting. So, there are many reasons to submit your abstract to UEG Week Vienna 2014 and to join the premier platform for gastroenterology researchers around the world.
