Tom Newman Memorial Award Nominations are being sought for the 1999 Tom Newman Memorial Award which is presented annually by the British Poultry Breeders and Hatcheries Association. The Award, which was instituted in 1949, comprises a bronze medal and £500. The presentation is made to the living author(s) who, in the opinion of the judges, has made the most signi® cant research contribution in any branch of science which will bene® t poultry husbandry and which has been published during the last ® ve years. Scientists from any country can be nominated. Nominations should comprise a copy of the paper/papers on a single research topic. The sub-

mission must be in English (or containing an English summary) and must include a supporting case by the nominator stating why the nominee merits this prestigious Award.
