Webbed Penis Without

Chordee

By P. Puri Dublin,

A 3&yr-old boy was examined at the hospital because of an abnormal appearance of the externa genitalia first noted by the mother. There was a web of skin drawn up from the scrotal raphe to the ventral surface of the penis, terminating 1 cm proximal to the prepuce (Fig. 1). There was mild phimosis and the child voided with a straight stream. A v-shaped incision was made enclosing the web, thereby releasing the penis from the scrotum. The lateral flaps were mobilized adequately to approximate them longitudinally using subcuticular catgut sutures. Webbed penis without hypospadias or chordee is a rare developmental anomaly. The exact embryology of this condition is not known. A disturbance in the normal preputial development is the most likely explanation for this malformation.
