The headache became more severe at 3 p.m. on the 25th; there was slight epistaxis. His pupils now became dilated, and after a few seconds contracted, when general and violent convulsions set in. This lasted four or five minutes. As soon as he was able to speak, he complained of very acute pain, as if somebody were pulling out his brain, or rather pulling: it. upwards. He complained also of dimness of vision. These symptoms continued until the 27th, at 8 a.m., when he had a similar fit and expired. His mental faculties were unimpaired till the last.

Post Mortem Examination (three hours after death.) On opening the cranium the vessels of the dara mater were found to be somewhat congested. The brain was remarkably firm. Near the middle of the left hemisphere, somewhat inferior and posterior, a small bluish and transparent spot, about the size of a fourpenny piece, was seen. On cutting it open, one large hydatid tumour was found floating in a quantity of straw-colored fluid, in which was the ruptured sac of a second. The tumour was about the size of a hen's egg. Seven ounces of fluid were removed, and a large cavity with uneven walls exsubstance of the brain. posed. It extended fully 1| inch into the The lateral ventricles contained a moderate quantity of serum. Other organs remarkably healthy. Never suffered from tapeworm. In the absence of a microscope, the contents of the tumour were not diagnosed, but it was supposed to probably contain Cjstoeerci Cellulosae, and to have originated from eating inferior meat and drinking bad water. The case contains some points of interest. The man's health was for a long time unimpaired, and the fact of the headaches being intermittent and gradually increasing in severity towards the close of the disease, deserves notice. The convulsions may, I think, be attributed to the rupture of one of the hydatid tumours, and the liberation of its contents. The above case occurred in the practice of the late Dr. Wilinot, Surgeon, 10Gt.li Regiment, who kindly presented me with the specimen. 1 am also indebted for many of the notes to Mr. Roach, Apothecary, 106th Regiment.
