June last, suffering from on the 24th enteric fever." His temperature being high, he was ordered 15 grains of antipyrin with one drachm of brandy in one ounce of warm water, which dose was ordered to be repealed every time his temperature rose above 103? Falir. ; so that, from the 26th June to 6th July, the boy received 20 doses of the antipyrin which amounted to 300 grains, when a peculiar rash was observed over his hands, arms, body, and legs (the face bring free), the character of the rash bring papular with a hard base, and of a dark red colour. By evening the rash on the palms of the hands assumed a vesicular form ; the next day some papular rash was noticed on his face, his body and legs being covered, those on the body resembling an aggravated form of lichen tropicus, caused evidently from the irritation of the flannel worn next to the body, as those on the legs and hands did not appear vesicular. On the third day, the rash commenced to coalesce, On the and looked very mucli like measles. 4th day the rash began to fade, and disappeared I must here add that the on the fifth evening. was discontinued from the second day antipyrin of the appearance of the rash, not because the rash appeared but that the boy's temperature kept below 103? Falir. Remarks.?As this rash was never seen before by any one in this hospital, and it appeared on the 14th day of the fever, it naturally led to many conjectures as to the febrile exanthemata, which idea, I am glad to say, was dispelled on the Review on Dr. Morrow's book on reading " Drug Eruptions," which was published in page 1338 of the British Medical Journal of the 18th June 1887. If any of the numerous readers of your journal has had a similar case, would he be so kind as to inform me through your journal whether the rash described above was due to antipyrin ?
